Meet Some of Our Team
ROB SARGENT, Senior Director, Campaign for 100% Renewable Energy
Rob directs policy and strategy development for Environment America’s efforts to move states, cities and our country toward our vision of 100 percent clean, renewable energy. Rob has served as policy advisor and strategist for a number of successful campaigns to promote state renewable energy standards, convince states to adopt clean car standards, enact energy efficiency policies, and shape state and regional commitments to reduce global warming emissions.
ANDREA MCGIMSEY, Senior Director, Global Warming Solutions Campaign
Andrea directs the strategy and staff for Environment America’s national global warming campaign. She previously worked as campaign director with Piedmont Environmental Council, and served on the Loudon County Board of Supervisors, where she led local efforts to address climate change. She has served on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Board of Directors, the Executive Committee of Climate Communities, and the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial Association. Her areas of expertise include global warming and land conservation. Andrea has authored articles on global warming and sustainability, and was the recipient of the Climate Leadership Award from the Chesapeake Climate Action Network. Andrea lives in Washington, D.C., where she enjoys traveling, reading and music.
JOHN RUMPLER, Senior Director, Clean Water for America Campaign and Senior Attorney
John directs Environment America's efforts to protect our rivers, lakes, streams and drinking water. John’s areas of expertise include lead and other toxic threats to drinking water, factory farms and other sources of agribusiness pollution, algal blooms, fracking and the federal Clean Water Act. John has coordinated several successful campaigns to win a cleanup plan for the Chesapeake Bay, enact the federal Clean Water Rule, and implement state policies to curb runoff pollution. He has testified before Congress and co-authored several reports on fracking, agribusiness pollution and lead in schools' drinking water. He previously worked as a staff attorney for Alternatives for Community & Environment and Tobacco Control Resource Center. John lives in Brookline, Mass., with his family, where he enjoys cooking, running, playing tennis, chess and building sandcastles on the beach.
BRONTE PAYNE, Director, Campaign for 100% Renewable Campuses
Bronte directs Environment America's campaign to get colleges and universities to commit to operate on 100 percent renewable energy. She has co-authored a number of reports, including “Turning to the Wind” and “Renewable Energy 100: A Course to a Carbon-Free Campus.” Bronte has worked on successful campaigns to renew federal tax incentives for wind and solar energy and to move Cornell University and Boston University toward 100 percent renewable energy. Bronte grew up in Michigan and now lives in Boston, where she enjoys reading, biking and practicing yoga.
DAVID MASUR, Executive Director, PennEnvironment
As executive director, David spearheads the issue advocacy, civic engagement campaigns, and long-term organizational building for PennEnvironment. He also oversees PennPIRG and other organizations within The Public Interest Network that are engaged in social change across Pennsylvania. David’s areas of expertise include fracking, global warming, environmental enforcement and litigation, and clean energy and land use policy in Pennsylvania. David has served on the environmental transition teams for Gov. Tom Wolf and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, and been named one of Pennsylvania’s “40 under 40” environmentalists by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. Under David’s leadership, PennEnvironment has won the two largest citizen suit penalties in Pennsylvania history against illegal polluters under the federal Clean Water Act. David lives in South Philadelphia with his family, where they’re involved in their local elementary school, community garden and civic association.
JENNETTE GAYER, State Director, Environment Georgia
As director, Jennette coordinates policy development, research, outreach and legislative advocacy for Environment Georgia. She has run successful campaigns to designate Georgia’s first outstanding national resource water along the headwaters of the Conasauga River, expand parks along the Chattahoochee River and Jekyll Island State Park, and stop construction of three new coal-fired power plants in Georgia, while also advocating for solar policies that have helped make Georgia one of the top 10 states for solar in the country. She serves on the leadership team for the Georgia Water Coalition, and on the boards of Citizens for Progressive Transit and The Georgia Solar Energy Association. Jennette lives in Atlanta, where she enjoys training for triathlons and hiking and camping in Georgia’s mountains.
