PROBLEMS THAT AFFECT ALL OF US

Whether it’s working to stop the overuse of antibiotics in agriculture, addressing our country’s plastic waste crisis, or alerting people to threats in the marketplace, the problems we work on aren’t progressive or conservative. They’re just problems that our country shouldn’t tolerate in an age of great abundance and technological progress. And these problems affect all of us, whether we live in a blue state, red state or purple state. To solve them, we need to find common ground around commonsense ideas.

With U.S. PIRG, you’ll join a great team of dozens of organizers, advocates, lawyers, researchers, policy analysts, communicators and others with a record of winning hundreds of new laws and other policies that have that make a real difference in people's lives.


As President of U.S. PIRG, Faye is a leading voice for consumer protection and public health in the United States. She has been quoted in major news outlets, including CBS News and the Washington Post, about issues ranging from getting toxic chemicals out of children’s products to protecting Americans from predatory lending practices. Faye also serves as the Executive Vice President for the Public Interest Network, which U.S. PIRG founded. Faye began her public interest career as a student volunteer with MASSPIRG Students at Williams College. After graduating in 1992, she began working with the Student PIRGs in California as a Campus Organizer and Organizing Director, working on campaigns to help students register to vote and to promote recycling. She lives in Denver with her family.
Matt directs U.S. PIRG’s work to address the growing problem of antibiotic-resistant infections by stopping the overuse of antibiotics on factory farms. Matt has directed successful campaigns to convince McDonald’s, Subway and KFC to phase antibiotic use out of their meat supply chains. Matt lives in Maine, is an avid outdoorsman, and loves to play the drums.
Abe is responsible for the program and organizational development of Illinois PIRG. In 2017, he led a coalition to pass legislation to implement automatic voter registration in Illinois, winning unanimous support in the Illinois General Assembly for the bill. Before moving to Illinois, Abe worked as the state director of ConnPIRG. Abe lives in Chicago, where he enjoys biking, cooking and tending his garden.
Emily directs CALPIRG’s advocacy efforts, and is a leading voice in Sacramento on transportation, protecting public health, consumer protections and defending our democracy. She oversaw CALPIRG’s recent efforts to stop the overuse of antibiotics on California farms, and has spearheaded policy work to reduce the high cost of health care. Emily works in our Oakland, California, office, and loves camping, hiking and cooking with her family.
Kara directs U.S. PIRG’s efforts to push states to ban the pesticide Roundup unless and until it’s proven safe. She also works to protect Americans from other toxic threats, including stopping the use of bee-killing pesticides and working with the media to alert people to toxic threats in their communities. Kara enjoys hiking and buying used books.
Adam works to protect everyone from dangers in the marketplace, including toxic toys, dangerous cars, unsafe prescription drugs and more. He leads our efforts to educate the public about breaking threats, empower consumers to protect themselves, and shift the marketplace to put consumers first. Prior to this role, Adam was the field director and deputy director of PennEnvironment. Adam lives in South Philadelphia with his wife and son.
